DOUGLAS KEESEY, author of the Twayne volume Don DeLillo, has published numerous articles on Dickey’s work as well as on other twentieth-century writers. He teaches American and British literature as well as film at California Polytechnic State University. The article herein is the full text of a briefer paper given at the American Literature Conference in San Diego in 1996.
Presently, Douglas Keesey is professor of film and literature and the Director of the General Education Program at Cal Poly.
